COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Action Plan

The health and wellbeing of our students and every member of our community remains our number one priority. We continue to take advice from the Australian Government and Queensland Health in relation to this matter, including in the event that a member of our community was directly impacted by COVID-19.

College protocols

  • If displaying symptoms, the College encourages all of our College community to follow the Qld Health guidelines – available here
  • If a child presents at school with a fever or other symptoms of COVID-19, parents will be advised and requested to collect their child immediately.
  • Close contact rules effective from 6.00pm Thursday 28 April: The Queensland Government has announced the end of COVID-19 isolation requirements for household contacts.  From 6:00pm Thursday 28 April, the changes mean an asymptomatic close contact who tests negative will be able to go about their daily lives.  Students who fall into this category will now be able to attend College if they are a close contact.
  • Students in Years 7 to 12 in this category (close contact) will be required to wear face masks when in class for seven days (and outdoors in places where they cannot physically distance).  Students in the close contact category must also take a rapid antigen test every two days to monitor for COVID-19.
  • Please refer to our 'Can I come into the Colleges' checklist if you are required to visit the College.  Please do not come to the Colleges if you are unwell with any symptoms.

Hygiene measures

  • We are following our established cleaning protocols which meet required infection control criteria
  • Stock levels of essential cleaning and sanitiser products have been secured to service the needs of the College
  • Students are being reminded of personal hygiene best practice:
    • Wash hands with soap before and after eating, after using the toilet, before and after applying first aid. Posters have been placed around the college campus.
    • Cover coughs and sneezes by using a tissue, dispose of used tissues
    • Do not share water bottles

Be informed

The health and wellbeing of our students remains a priority and we would ask that we work together to be vigilant with respect to your child’s/children’s response to this ongoing situation. Children can have a range of emotional reactions during an event like this and, as always, the support of our Teachers, Pastoral Leaders and College Counsellor is available.

    Practice Precaution

The COVID-19 virus is transmitted through droplets in the air from a cough or sneeze, like the flu and other respiratory diseases. Increased awareness and taking certain precautions are strongly advised.

    • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, and after touching public surfaces. If this is not possible, then use a hand sanitiser gel.
    • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze by using a tissue that you immediately throw into a bin or by covering your face with your elbow (bent arm) if no tissue is available. Do not cough or sneeze into the open air or into your hands. Wash your hands immediately afterwards.
    • If you or a family member are suffering from symptoms of illness, including but not limited to coughing, sneezing, runny nose or fever, remain home and see a doctor.

    Family trips

    • The Australian Government is continually monitoring the situation and updating its response, including announcing new measures that specifically address travel restrictions to and from other countries.
    • If you are planning holidays, please refer to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade DFAT website for further information regarding travel restrictions. This site is updated regularly.
